Sirocco Fishing Charters is based in the attractive fishing village of Moeraki, North Otago, New Zealand. Moeraki is a 1 hour scenic drive from Dunedin and 3½ hours from Christchurch, Queenstown and Mt Cook. The Sirocco offers an opportunity to fish in waters that are rich in sea life in an area that abounds with marine mammals and birds.

Martin Finnie – Skipper

Your qualified Owner/Operator is Martin Finnie, who has been chartering out of Moeraki for ten years. Martin has a wealth of knowledge about the Otago area and knows where to take you for the best fishing opportunities. In addition, there are deckhands to help you take your catch off the hooks, and fillet them ready for you to take home or cook when you land.

Fishing

Moeraki offers some of the best sea fishing in New Zealand and represents a real opportunity for Sirocco recreational anglers to escape day-to-day life.

There are many species in these waters to catch:
Blue Cod, Sharks, Perch, Trumpeter, Terakihi and Groper (in season). Shark Fishing is done off Cape Saunders, near the Otago Peninsula.

Enjoy fishing, diving or cruising around the Moeraki waters. Martin will ensure you have a good time.

Marine Mammals and Birds

While on charter, you could catch a glimpse of marine mammals and birds attracted to these Southern waters, from dolphins and seals, to albatross and mollymawks.
